Dear Anne,
How are you? I miss you already. I sometimes wish we went to the same school. But, maybe it's better this way because then it's extra special when I get to see you.
I hope you don't mind a typewritten letter. I've been taking a typing class this semester and need the practice. Plus, I just thought it would be something different for a change. I'm getting better at it. I know what the "home keys" are so I don't have to hunt and peck like I used to. Well, not as much. It will take me a few hours to type this without making any mistakes. Ha ha! Just kidding - sort of. I don't want to make a mistake because I don't think we have any Wite-Out.
It was so fun seeing you Friday night. I liked those jeans with the checkered pattern you had on. What was that movie we saw? I think it was called "Seven Minutes in Heaven." I have trouble focusing on the movie when I'm with you. Remember that girl telling us to "get a room." Ha ha. We could "get a room" someday. That would be nice. I still think we should have seen "Cavegirl". Just kidding. Maybe we can see "Pumping Iron II" about the female bodybuilders. I don't know if the Decorah theater will ever show it but maybe in La Crosse. Just kidding. You think they're too muscular, right? I can't wait to see "First Blood II" and "A View to a Kill." I like Stallone and I love James Bond movies. James Bond is so fucking cool.
I told you I saw "Desperately Seeking Susan" back in April with my sisters, right? Madonna is so hot! Maybe I should write her a letter and ask her to send me a picture. Don't get jealous now. She's not as hot as you! I carry your picture with me all the time in my wallet. I think I need a bigger picture of you that I can keep in my room in a frame!

I'm glad we're back together. I hope you meant it when you said we'd never break up again. So, your dad still thinks you're too young to go steady and that we should see other people, huh? Well, I don't want to see anyone else and you don't either. If your dad doesn't like it I guess that's just tough shit. Ha ha.
Since today was Mother's Day we went out for lunch after church. We went to the Cliff House. We had to wait in line for quite a while which kind of sucked. I like the Cliff House though so I guess it was worth the wait. My mom liked the figurine I got her from your parents' store.
I can't believe Coke changed their formula. I don't drink that much pop so it doesn't really matter much to me. I've tried New Coke and it doesn't taste much different. I mean cola is cola, right? It's just weird though seeing this "New Coke." Some people are really pissed off.
Do you ever worry about nuclear war? My history teacher seems hopeful about this new Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev. I'm worried about the conflicts in Northern Ireland and Lebanon and the rest of the Middle East too. Why can't people get along?
I also read they have a blood test for AIDS now. Scary stuff. If we ever decide to "go all the way" we'll have to practice "safe sex."
I can't believe you're going to see REO Speedwagon on Wednesday night. I can't believe your parents are letting you travel all the way to Cedar Rapids on a week night. I wish I could go along but I know you want to have a girls' night out. My parents probably wouldn't let me go anyway. Maybe we can see Night Ranger when they're in the area later this summer.

By the way, my sister has the Hi Infidelity album by REO. I still play it on our turntable in the office from time to time. The best song on the album is probably "Keep On Loving You" although "Take It on the Run" is pretty good too. They'll probably play their newest hit "Can't Fight This Feeling" at the concert. Of course, I'd rather listen to my AC/DC, Def Leppard, or Police cassettes.
While typing this I just noticed the JC Penney Spring and Summer Catalog sitting on the desk. I kind of forgot about it. I'll have to take a look. I love looking through the new JC Penney and Sears catalogs. We could look at the lingerie section together! That would be fun.
I guess I should do homework tonight. But, I might just skip it. It's getting late anyway. I want to get into college but I think my C average will be good enough. I don't have good study habits like you. Do you really think I should wait a year after graduation so we can go to UNI together? That would be pretty cool.
Can you really imagine us getting married someday? That would be amazing! I don't think you'll get me to sing "Almost Paradise" while walking down the aisle though. Still, I would be so happy saying "I do."
